Code Refinery Success Stories

National Human Genome Research Institute

Business Challenge

The National Genome Research Institute (part of the National Institutes of Health) led the Human Genome Project which was completed in April 2003. In 1997 NHGRI wanted to:

  1. Replace their existing software system
  2. Enable multiple research protocols to be executed on a single system and a single software interface

Outcome

Code Refinery developed an Automated Genotyping System for NHGRI. This system automated a variety of complex PCR setup and preparation functions used in genotyping. This system also provided the ability to use multiple plate formats and optimized assays with a plate.

Key Features and Benefits

Increased efficiency: Single-user interface automated multiple protocols

Increased versatility: Enabled the use of 384 and 96 well plates

Decreased time: Considerably reduced PCR setup and protocol execution times
